How we handle your data

Short version: we don't collect any.

No accounts, no tracking

Human does not require an account. We don't use analytics, cookies, or tracking pixels. There is no advertising on this site.

Your assessment data stays with you

All personality assessment data is processed entirely in your browser. Your answers are never sent to our servers. In-progress responses are saved to your browser's local storage so you can resume later — you can clear this at any time by clicking "Retake" on the results page or clearing your browser data.

Results are encoded in the URL

When you complete an assessment, your results are encoded into the URL hash (the part after the #). This means your results never leave your browser unless you choose to share the link. Anyone with the link can view those results.

Vibe Check (shareable links)

The Vibe Check feature lets anyone create a shareable link that invites someone to take the Big Five personality test. When using this feature, we store minimal data on our servers:

  • What we store — A random link ID, an optional label (e.g. "Jane"), a status flag, and the encoded result string (the same compact format used in the URL). No raw answers, personal information, IP addresses, names, or email addresses are stored.
  • Consent — The person taking the assessment explicitly agrees to share their results before starting. Without this consent, no data is stored.
  • Expiry — Assessment links expire after 30 days (no new completions accepted). All stored data is automatically deleted after 90 days.
  • The regular test is unaffected — The standard Big Five test at /personality/big5 remains completely private. Nothing is stored, and results stay entirely in your browser.

Third-party services

  • Cloudflare Pages — This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard HTTP connection data (IP addresses, request headers) as part of serving the site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts — We load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes requests to Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.
